Why we built Owen

It's wild to us that client retention still takes a back seat to acquisition.

Study after study shows that keeping a customer is significantly more profitable than landing a new one. Yet most businesses continue pouring resources into chasing leads instead of nurturing the relationships they already have.

We believe account managers are the beating heart of any business. Not because they keep clients "happy." Because they build trust. They make it easy and enjoyable for clients to keep spending money with you.

In every conversation we had with account managers, one theme came up without fail.

"Relationships are everything."

So we started asking harder questions. What do you actually do to build those relationships? How do you remember what matters to your clients?

The answers were shockingly consistent.

Some rely on memory. Others on scattered notes, spreadsheets, and CRM fields nobody wants to update. Almost none had a tool built for the actual work of relationship-building. They weren't managing accounts. They were hacking together systems because no purpose-built solution existed.

And when we asked about CRMs? Nearly everyone rolled their eyes. Treated as a necessary evil. A compliance checkbox. Not something that helps you do your job better.

That was the spark for Owen.

We didn't start with a product. We started with conversations — because we wanted to understand whether this was a problem worth solving, and for whom.

What we heard, again and again, was this: "I want to remember what matters to my clients. But I don't have the time, the tools, or the mental bandwidth to do it consistently."

Owen is our answer.
